R&B singer Aaron Hall first became well known as the lead singer in Teddy Riley's seminal new jack swing trio Guy before striking out on a successful solo career.
Hall, Riley and Timmy Gatling formed Guy in 1987 and over a four-year career, which would see Gatling eventually replaced by Hall's brother Damion, they released two double-platinum albums and scored several hit singles including "Groove Me," "I Like" and "Piece of My Love." When the group went their separate ways in 1991, Hall, who penned Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative," made his solo debut on the soundtrack for Juice with the track "Don't Be Afraid." After a brief hiatus, he recorded his debut solo album, The Truth (1993), for MCA Records.
A deeply religious man, Hall's faith was tested in the mid-'90s when he lost his mother and his son within the same year. Determined to persevere, Hall used the recording of his second album, Inside of You, as therapy. Inside of You was released on October 20, 1998.
